Curious about Impressionist art but not sure where to begin? This relaxed workshop introduces the style through the rich and vibrant medium of oil pastels. Instead of focusing on tiny details, Impressionism is all about capturing light, colour, and the feeling of a moment.
In this beginner-friendly session, you will explore how artists like Monet and Van Gogh painted everyday scenes using loose strokes and layered colours. Oil pastels make this approach especially enjoyable as they blend easily and allow you to build soft textures and expressive marks.
Our instructor will guide you through simple techniques such as layering colours, blending for soft transitions, and using short, broken strokes to create an impression of light and movement. You will work from selected reference images and learn how to simplify shapes while focusing on colour and atmosphere.
No prior art experience is needed. Just come with curiosity and enjoy the process of experimenting with colour and texture.
Impressionism Images will be provided for reference and learning purposes :)
