Humans are like colours!

What if humans were like the colour wheel?🎨

We had an interesting thought the other day: what if humans are colours?

We all come in different colours. Different personalities, different ways of thinking, different ways of communicating. And sometimes, those differences are exactly what make our relationships interesting and sometimes, exactly what makes them difficult.

What if we looked at our relationships the way we look at colours? Maybe it could help us understand each other a little better, and approach our relationships with a clearer mind.

So what happens when all these different “colours” meet?

Some colours just work together 💙🧡

Take complementary colours, blue and orange. They sit opposite each other on the colour wheel, but somehow, they work really well together. Just like that friend who is completely different from you, but somehow, you get along.

Maybe you're quiet, and they're loud. You're the planner, and they're the spontaneous one. You overthink everything, and they just say, “Let's go.”

You might see things completely differently, but that doesn't necessarily mean you don't work well together. Sometimes, those differences give us a perspective we wouldn't have had on our own. Not all opposites are bad, and our differences can be exactly what makes a relationship work.

Blue and orange are complementary colours; different, but they work well together.

But sometimes there can be too much of a good thing…💛💜

Complementary colours can also become competing colours. And just like relationships, it all comes down to balance.

For example, yellow and purple are both strong, bold colours. Put too much of them together, and they can start fighting for attention. A little like two strong personalities constantly trying to be heard. Sometimes, it isn't that one colour is “too much”. Maybe there’s simply too much of both at the same time.

Maybe using a little less yellow gives purple some room. Giving someone a little more space doesn't mean we're making ourselves smaller; it could just mean that we're making room for each other.

🎨 Finding our balance

We can learn a lot about relationships from colours. Some people complement us, some challenge us, some clash with us and some bring out the best in us. We don't always get to choose the colours in our lives, but we can choose how we put them together. Because if life is a painting, maybe not every colour needs to match.

And honestly, a painting would be pretty boring if everything was the same colour ;)
